Having served various Tata companies in India, his role as the former head of Tata Group for MENA, was pivotal role in expanding the group’s presence and impact across the region. During his tenure, Sunil leveraged his deep understanding of regional culture, geopolitics, and business opportunities to steer the group toward sustained success. His leadership was instrumental in establishing and nurturing key business relationships and spearheading the Tata Group’s all-round growth in MENA.
His work has positioned him as a key advisor to organizations looking to expand internationally, particularly in the India & MENA region. As the Founder and CEO of Ignite Excellence, Sunil advises businesses on performance excellence, sustainability, and global expansion, helping them navigate complex market dynamics and realize long-term value.
Governance & Business Excellence
Sunil has made significant contributions to governance and business excellence, particularly during his tenure as CEO of the Tata Business Excellence Group (TBExG). He led the group-wide implementation of transformational initiatives focused on business excellence, innovation, sustainability, safety, and corporate governance across more than 100 Tata companies internationally. His strategic leadership in embedding the Tata Business Excellence Model (TBEM), inspired by the Malcolm Baldrige Performance Excellence Framework, elevated operational standards and long-term value creation within the group. Sunil's expertise earned him a directorship on the Board of the Malcolm Baldrige Foundation, USA, where he was recognized with the Leadership Excellence Award by the Malcolm Baldrige Foundation for his global impact on advancing business excellence and governance frameworks.
Leadership
Sunil’s portfolio of board and advisory roles, reflects his strategic expertise and ability to drive impactful outcomes across industries and regions. He serves on the board of several international companies with a GCC presence and provides them strategic guidance on global expansion and business transformation. As Vice Chairman of the India Business & Professional Council in Dubai, he works to foster stronger bilateral ties between India and the UAE, enabling investment flows and technological exchange. His longstanding association with Tata companies includes serving on various boards and advisory bodies such as the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and the Advisory Board of the CII Institute of Quality, where he has championed initiatives to elevate business excellence and innovation in India. Further, his leadership role in the International Academy for Quality (IAQ) and chair of its sustainability think tank, underscores his global contributions to sustainability and performance excellence.
